Case studies · Playable industry model
Minimal Factory
Sixteen industrial sites, the same five controls everywhere – and one line that says what is jamming right now.
What it is
Minimal Factory turns 16 real sites into a bustling scene in the browser, on real terrain, from the Henrichshütte to the boat lift. Five controls take effect at once and visibly. Simplified interpretations: not a faithful simulation of operations, and no cooperation with the sites named.
The spark
Industrial heritage mostly stands still: in front of a monument you see the form, but not how the plant works, what goes in, what comes out, what it depends on. The question was how a silent monument could run again, in the picture.
The artist knows such spaces from his own industrial exhibitions, among them at the Henrichshütte in Hattingen.
What was built with AI
Built with AI, in a short time, in-house:
- 16 sites on real terrain from official elevation data and OpenStreetMap, every shape a block
- one model for all: five controls and the chain Suppliers → Plant → Good → Stockpile → Market
- expansion you can see: depending on the site, blast furnaces, lines, shafts, quays with cranes, rolling mills or ring kilns
- monuments brought to life, growing stockpiles, trains, trucks and ships that run with the volume
- production from the inside, from the coil to the first start, with a factory tour at eye level
- a future factory with robot cells, driverless transport vehicles, drones and a robot dog
What only experience decides
An ironworks and a brickworks work differently. That all sites still have the same five controls is the real decision: understand one and you find your way around all of them. The line at the top says in words what is jamming: “Too few people”, “Material missing”, “Too much built”.
Times heavily shortened, figures as orders of magnitude, halls and processes interpreted: how far you may simplify so that the relationship still holds is not decided by a prompt. That is known by someone who has built real-time systems and installations for museums.

What a company gains
How a plant works, where it jams, what a decision sets off: this can be shown in the customer centre, in the technical centre, at a trade fair and in training.
The basic example is the proof: built in a short time, playable at once. In the same way we build versions for companies and training centres: their own process as a chain, their own texts and controls. A model for experience and training, not a depiction of a real operation.
